I am in the process of reassembling my 1970 383 roadrunner, I now have a 440 in it.I need a new radiator and was looking for a non OEM product, price for a stock one is out of my ballpark.I would like to spend between $200-250 for the radiator.

Questions?
What size will I need? I read 22” and also “26 – what really fits in the mounting?
How many core? 2 or 3 – I live in upstate NY where it is not extremely hot. I was going to think 3
Can I get a aluminum similar in stock appearance and paint it black or will this hold heat?
Finally how about a name of a supplier for a good quality radiator?

I am sure there is a thread on this but came up empty in my quick search. I apologize for all the questions but this is a great site for getting the knowledge.

Thanks

I'm thinking your car came with a 22" radiator, someone could tell you how to check for sure. I'd measure the opening in front to be sure.

Yes paint that new aluminum radiator black, it's best for heat transfer.

Too bad you can't find stocker and have it recored because I think original radiators are better than aluminum.

Is it an a/c car,and is it an automatic? if so i would run a 26 inch, my parts and casting book shows a 2998959 fit a 70 R/R auto, which is a 26 inche rad. Measure your radiator support.

no ac and its a 4 speed

I have found some stock radiators but they all need to be recored - this puts me out of my budget but I will consider if it is really that much better. When measuring the core what am I looking for, the opening size matching the radiator size?

thanks

I just bought a Champion from Craig on this site. Some complain but mine went right in. It was the most economical thing for me to do.

I also recently bought a 3 core 26 inch Champion from Craig for my bird. Went right in, fan shroud does not fit right though.
