I say COULD because I am sorta scared to do it. I don't want to pile this thing into the side rails!

My combo is all stock 1968 Charger body as delivered with full interior and all.

I have a sway bar on the front, and 285/40 R-17 NT555's on the back. I want to run the car is street trim.

Motor is:

440 .30 over
SRP pistons at zero deck
OOTB Eddy 84cc heads
Compression should be around 10.2:1
Comp XS282S Solid 110 LSA 244 intake/ 252 Exhaust
.520/.540 lift
Crane roller 1.5 rockers
2" headers to 3.5 collectors. 3" Exhaust (I know way large)
Pro Form 850cfm double pump
K1 rods ARP 2000 bolts
Studed top and bottom
Electric fans and radiator
Rear is a 3.55 Posi,
Copes Trans with PTC 11" Converter built for my car.

I have attended a bunch of drags, but have never set foot on the track. I have a helmet if needed, and an extinguisher.

Should I go around the water box and not do a burnout with my street tires?

Here's a hand graphed chart based off what my engine did on the Engine Dyno when first built.

And a pic of the car as I will be racing it.

Congrats man!

Most importantly have fun, I'm sort new to it as well and can say biggest thing is seat time. I'm guessing depending on conditions and all I bet low 12's high 11's depending after you get it to hook right!

Don't be scared. If you can drive it down the street, you can drive it down the drag strip. Car and engine will be fine, traction will most likely be troublesome and DO drive around the water box. Just clean the tires off before staging. If you are still nervous, ask to make your first few passes with out someone beside you, most tracks will be happy to do that for you.
My guess is it will run about 8.75 in 1/8 mile.
Good luck and HAVE FUN!

Don't do a burnout with the street tires. Quick chirp if you want, but drive around the water.

My very similar combo ran a best of 7.43 in the 8th (so about 11.70) with 28" slicks on a 3.91 gear.

10.2 compression 448 stroker
Magnum 282 Solid with 1.6 rocker so .528 lift 236 at 50
1.75 header 11 inch TQ
Performer RPM

A smooth accel. foot, I think, will get you a 12.10 or better is my guess.

The old mild 383 would get 8.43 on street tires, so you got that beat.

Being in Boise, Idaho is not going to help...what is the elevation there?

My personal experience; Sea level to Boise you're gonna lose about 3-4 tenths.

Should run mid-high 12's

You could make a few passes with the car or truck that you drive every day to get some seat time before running the Charger.

Awesome!

Had not thought about just running my truck first to get a feel for it. Great idea!

You will have to get used to rolling into the throttle. With practice you might be surprised.
That thing is screaming for some drag radials. After you get comfortable with it try some and share the difference it makes.

I may be wrong but isn't the NT555 the drag radial from Nitto?

Drive it like you stole it. If you feel it getting squirrely get out of it. The gear is going to hurt more than anything. If it hooks you should be in the mid 12's.
P.S. Chargers are cool
