Wondering if the "Dodge" insignia was on the front of the hood ala the flat hoods when the hood had the dual scoop hood option?

Anyone have any pictures?

Thanks - Chris

Thanks, guess my question wasn't that clear - although you did throw a monkey wrench in it with that photo.

I have a 70 Dart hood - has the "Dodge" insignia dead center in the front. Looks like the Dodge insignia is drivers side front and a different type on the 71 Demon.

I'm also assuming the hoods are the same and interchange.......

Cool pic but you can't use factory promo pics like that as restoration reference, they often show airbrushed items and other non typical combos that never made it into production....Like the 1970 style light Argent center caps on that 71 Demon for example

He asked for photos, so I shared one, the only one I have.

Hopefully other folks have more for him.

Well, from what I can gather the 71 Demon didn't have the Dodge scripted emblem in the center of the hood. I just asked as I scored a dart hood. Has the 'holes' for the pins in that center area. Looks like the Demons were sans the emblem in center or drivers side front from photos I've seen.

Thanks -

I did a little more digging.

The 1970-71 collision parts book for Dart hood lists;

Nameplate "Dodge" 71 all (models) part number 2965502

The 1970-71 parts book shows the same number.

mine has them and a pic dated 1975 of mine looks to have something there but the pic is poor. Like everything with Chrysler there are exceptions.

So you are saying if the car has the hood scoops there is no "Dodge" emblem on the driver's side. My 71 (no scoops) has/had the emblem on the driver's side. It's currently missing, but I can see exactly where it was. Just wondering if this emblem is reproduced.(?)

Is your car a Dart or a Demon? and are you 100% certain it's the original hood to the car?

Are any of the three cars above in original paint?

It looks like the black one has the holes at center for the older emblem.

Was the 1971 style adhesive only? (no pins)

No Barry, none of them, and for that reason they are not worthy as reference original, just a few examples of original J54 cars (that appear) to be correct, although I can't vouch for the black one. The black one belongs to Izzy in Florida, I believe Dave Dudek restored it for him. I recall a thread a couple years ago discussing the same thing. I think I recall some discussion about them using a Dart replacement hood and some question as to the center emblem placement being correct on a Demon or not. As far as the orange and yellow cars above, both have original hoods to the cars, niether has evidence of holes for an emblem so if they did have them they were the stick on style.

I don't have that many A-body pics, but the 3 cars I found didn't have an emblem. No idea how original any of them are.

The thread below has an engineering illustration showing the emblem is adhesive. The topic is Challenger trunk emblem, however it is the same part# as the Dart/Demon hood emblem. There is also info about differences in the emblems that are currently available.

The GY3 car is very well presented, correct imo.
The red car, I would need to see documentation on the body colored
scoops, the chrome scoop bezels and the missing black-out hood
treatment. The body colored scoops, chrome bezels and add 340
emblems - would be correct only for '70 Swinger 340's.
I agree with the emblem delete on the performance hood.
