I have a 340 block I am building into a 416. Compression probably around 10.5:1, and the D100 weighs 3200lbs with 4.56's currently going to 4.10 or 3.91, but I have OD, and a tight 3000 stall. Current mopar purple cam in my current 360 runs like a bat out of he!!, and I want to keep a similar lump due to convertor and drivability.
Mopar 484/284 cam list 241* duration at .050 with a 108 Center line.
Question is: Which cam for the new engine?
I have been looking at Hughes Engine cams, and I really like the solid flat tappet cam HTL4248 with .543" lift and 242 duration, but my experience with strokers is, the engine will be much milder with a big cam than advertised because those were for a 340/360 and not a 416 displacement.
Goal is as close to 500hp on the pump as I can get at a reasonable price, and still drivability.
Thoughts on your experiences, and favorite cams and why....
