heard these are a must for a 440 reving around 6000 rpm.....hughes engines has a real good one so i'm told

We turned a 500 inch B1 7200rpm without any problems with a stock block fitted with ARP main studs without a girdle.
It made over 300 passes till the timing belt broke

At that level, stud the mains,maybe throw in some lighter pistons and new rod bolts,and go have fun with it.

not necessary at all for that engine and imho a questionable idea for just about anything else. if you're making that much steam a better block is the correct "fix"

this was suggested from a guy who has raced mopars for 27 yrs. so i have to believe he might have a reason to suggest it.Everything he has suggested about the tuning on my 440 has been bang on.I just like to have several opinions before i make any decision.He explained that with higher revs he has had crank caps loosen off slightly on his 440 and said this girdle is just a little more insurance.
