If you were putting one in your car. Would the TCI adaptor setup work or would you go with a case that fits the mopar? Any real time experience with them and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'd go with a mopar bell. It's SFI approved. Stock PG bell is not.

Jess I had a JW glide in my old Cuda. It has the 727 bell housing. It was super easy but I had to shim the starter.

I've ran the TCI adaptor for years, and never had a problem with it, but the J&W Bell is what all the others we've done have had.
The bevel head Alen bolts on the adaptor plate and flywheel adaptor present an interesting challenge. You want to use thread locker on the threads to make sure they stay in place and don't lossen up. But you have to use anti-sieze on the heads or they will gall the aluminum, and weld themselves in place.

The TCI adapter will work but its junk, the plate is 1/4" and they then machine a 1/8" step for the shouldered transmission studs which look somewhat like splined lawnmower wheel studs, not anything particularly wrong with that, but it only leaves a 1/8th step in the plate which will eventually pull the studs completely through, won't happen right away, but it "will" happen, in my case in one season of racing. If the plate was 3/8th" it would probably be fine.

_____________

Just read Billy's post, sounds like maybe they use a tapered countersunk allen head now, instead of the shouldered stud like mine had, the unit I had was from the late 90's so hopefully they (TCI) re-engineered their holddown system.

Jess, I have both. I originally bought the TCI adapter kit back in the early 90s. When I did the big motor in 09 I started breaking the stock 'Glide bell housings.

I have the World aluminum block and if I remember you do too, right? It has the Glide bolt pattern on the back as well as the Mopar pattern.

So I put studs in the Chevy pattern on the block, removed the studs from the TCI adapter plate & drilled out the holes to about 1/2" so the block studs would poke through, then bought a JW Glide Ultra Bell that now bolts up to the motor.

Now the adapter plate is really just a motor plate. It's bolted to the Mopar pattern on the block with countersunk style bolts. I can remove the tranny without disturbing the motor.

The starter bolts up to an aluminum block that's attached to the motor plate.

Did all that make sense?

Now I use a different brand and 1/2" plate.
I combine the adapter as a mid mount so it also acts as a limiter

I have worked on both. The adapter is a hassle. Go with the bell. And get the aftermarket case.

I am gathering pieces for a Hemi Dart build. I have the World block but it was from Mopar without the GM bolt pattern. I am looking at the JW Ultra bell for the glide. I have a few questions. If I use that bell , do I still need the crank adapter? And what flexplate should I get. The glide I am looking at has the turbo style input shaft.

I would recommend "The Wheel" from JW and their crank adapter.

Exactly, I'm running the Mopar to Glide Bell from JW along with JW's "the wheel" as well as their crank adapter...Eric at JW has been great to deal with. Everything went together perfect, and we are using 2 shims on the starter.

I have the TCI adapter as well as a JW Chevy Bellhousing hanging in the garage, not sure if I'll ever use it though, lol..

JW bell, wheel & 2 starter shims here too, JW roller tail housing too, it all fits real nice, JW are excellent to deal with even for an overseas one off customer. dont always get that.

The JW billet flexplate is recertifiable where "The Wheel" is no longer.
