When I got into the 9s I got the CSR carbon fiber shield. It's more of a pain in the rear to fit in the car, but I feel better w/ it compared to the blanket. It definitely saved my feet when my 727 exploded a few years ago. CHIP '70 hemicuda, 575" Hemi, 727, Dana 60 '69 road runner, 440-6, 18 spline 4 speed, Dana 60 '71 Demon, 340, low gear 904, 8.75 '73 Chrysler New Yorker, 440, 727, 8.75 '90 Chevy 454SS Silverado, 476" BBC, TH400, 14 bolt '06 GMC 2500HD LBZ Duramax

After seeing what happened and the damage done, I seriously doubt a blanket will do any better. Dartin super stock D Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 998 Clinton Township, Michigan	I hope I never have to say from experience which works better at stopping shrapnel, but I run a blanket on mine and as Dom said, never had a heat problem, even on the street with an 8" converter. I had an aluminum shield and couldn't fit it in my stock trans tunnel. Randy

rickraw top fuel R Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 2,410 Ambridge, Pa.	i use a csr, abody. u have to use socket head bolts on the top 4 holes. i hole sawed my tunnel so i can get to those bolts, then used 2" body plugs to seal the holes. worked out great.
