There are a couple of ways to approach this. One: it looks like you have a factory kick-down set up. Find yourself a factory service manual and adjust the linkage properly. But the linkage on the transmisson, and the carb need to have the proper throw ratio to be able to work together. If you have a lever on the transmission from a van, and the one from your a-body on the carb for example the throw ratio will not be correct, and getting it to work can be a real challenge. Or option two:Call Bouchillion Performance and order their kick-down kit and fix the problem for good.

Yep, you'll want to get the correct edelbrock adapter. And, the slot in the kickdown MUST be held against the throttle studs at all times (by that long spring). If you have a gap there right now, that's your problem. When you push the throttle open, the lever must move immediately with it. The long slot is so if the kickdown linkage binds up, the throttle can still close (before things get exciting ). When I did my 4bbl conversion I had to extend the linkage about an inch so I had enough adjustment to keep it against the throttle stud.
If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

My edelbrock kickdown & throttle cable stell ant right, if I drive with a lead foot, it douse fine, but if I pull out slow, it don't seem too smooth, so I would like to see some pics of how you guys with a-bodys have got your kickdown & throttle cable set up!
hears a pic of how mine is set up!
You still never install the ebrock adapter bracket , it's never going to be right without it , the spot you have it is higher than stock and the ratio for the trans lever movement is wrong .

It may be the "wrong" way to do it, but when I installed my 4 barrel I just bent the original throttle and kickdown bracket until the throttle cable aligned right and bought a 2 dollar coupler nut and cut the head off of a bolt to extend the kickdown rod. Edelbrock sells the latter piece as some kind of an adapter for $15, mine looks exactly the same.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.
