I just bought a carter avs 4966s to use on my 71 challenger and have some questions about rebuild kit.
Will edelbrock 1477 rebuild kit fits perfectly?
If not, what rebuild kit to buy?
Let me know you experience with carter rebuild kit's on market.
I'll buy it on internet because I'm overseas and do not know whem I'll fly to USA...
Thank's in advance.

i used the mancini kit for my 4618 and thought it was a piece of crap. i ended up using some edelbrock parts though. the pump plunger from a 1407, needle and seats will work, i converted to the afb/edelbrock pump nozzle, and used the afb/edelbrock mixture screws. carb works great after some tweaking.

What motor are you going to install that carb on

Also you can convert over to the flat metering rod covers from the edelbrock carbs , or just make your own flat ones to use on the AVS

That way you can run the edelbrock metering rods and jets for fine tuning

Go to this link for Walker Carb kits. they have everything you need for Carter, Holley and a multitude of other carbs out there.

http://www.walkerproducts.com/index.php/products/carburetor-repair-kits/

Prices are reasonable and you can then order them from O'Reilleys auto parts. Just call and give them the info ie. Walker Carb Kit 15304B. that is the kit for the AFB carbs for all years on the 426 Street Hemi. Price is around $34.00 for that kit.

They also have an online store you can order various carb parts or bulk quantities of gaskets etc. if you race and rejet at the track and just need the gaskets and not an entire kit.

Good luck

And you can get it from Napa-Echlin for around $25.

Thank's guys.
It's a 4966s carb, originally used on 71 440. Mine has a 383 .030 over, 10.5:1 CR, 268 voodoo cam, headers, performer rpm intake, speed demon carburetor, unilite distribuitor...
I'll go to oem apearence and will use carter, mp distribuitor and everyting else i can find. I'm not sure about change from headers to cast hp exaust manifold.

You will not like that 4966s avs on that motor with all those mods as far as performance - Trust me you will notice a loss in performance , if that matters at all

4966s came on the 71 Non-HP 440 motors
625cfm carb

4967s/4968s came on the 71 HP 440 motors
750cfm carb

I know that but for now my goal is stock apearence. I live im a big city and unfortunaly with crazy traffic, drivers... my car is far away to be a garage queen but I do not drive it to much...
