Currently I have 2 red top optimas but they tend to go on me in like 3-4 years, grant you I dont drive the car that much but I do keep a trickle charger on them during the winters. well I need a pair of batteries again and I was told the odyssey are a real good battery. I have 2 im my truck in an aluminum enclosure. anyone have any insight on these and what is a good trickle charger to use that will manage both batteries at one connection.

thanks

I got a Red Top 7-8 years ago. Even though it had some abuse it lasted to this spring. I am happy. Since I got it I understand that Red Top went through a period with some quality issues. I understand and hope they got it fixed. Anyhow, I bought another Red Top. We'll see.

I had my old red top for 8 years, It was great took alot of abuse on my part. However inbetween that time i was working in a number of auto stores and saw alot of defects. This was 4-5 years ago I am Not sure is quality improve. After doing some research i went with the Exide brand gel battery. Been only 1 year so far but no problem.

Optimas used to be great batteries. Then about 5 years ago my luck with them ran out. I had a red top last 16 years once (1990 - 2006). Then I had two red tops that went bad in when they were less than 18 months old. I've gone back to liquid cell Interstates....

Sears DieHard Platinum are manufactured by Odyssey, but less expensive! I got an Odyssey for my race car before I knew that. But I got 2 DieHard Platinums in my Dodge diesel afterwards.
