to prevent blowing out the center of a rubber lca bushing, can you press the pin in first?

use blackpipe to press the bushing into the lca?

any issues with trying this?

A standard crafstman deep 1/2" drive socket , can't remember the size but it's either 5/8 or 11/16 or 3/4 , fits in the hole just right from the torsion socket side and supports the inner shell perfectly.

But to answer you question yes you can press the pin in first and then use something that will push against the outer shell only to press the bushing in .

That's exactly how I did it. Pin in first.

If you have the skills and equipment, it can be done either way. If you are pressing the pin+bushing assembly into the LCA, you will need a tube-like device the same diameter as the outer shell of the bushing, with more reach than the pin.

Of course, pressing the bushing alone into the LCA first only requires that you support the inner sleeve of the bushing when it comes time to press the pin in.

It's all a matter of personal preference.

There might well be folks who step forward with their , but they are entitled to their own opinion.

Ah, thanks John. that has to be the easier way.
guy at the shop was telling me how it presses and releases to walk the pin in to prevent blowing it out, and I thougth there had to be a better way.
my mind though of pressing the pin in first.

thanks everyone. makes it easier since I won't pay 80 bucks for someone to do this.

I press the bushings into the control arms first then press the pin. When you do it this way you have to block the bushing so it can't push out.

I've done it both ways. Neither is better than the other.
