How can I check the water temperature sensor and gauge on a '69 440 car? Can I just hold a lighter to the sensor and see the gauge rise?
Thanks.

Ground the sender wire then turn on the ignition just long enough to see the needle move halfway. If you peg the needle you will burn out the gauge.
