I picked up a very rough 413 max wedge block today at a garage sale for 5 bucks. Its rough, probably will need maxed bored if not sleeved. I figured for 5 bucks it was worth a shot. My question is this, is it worth rebuilding or should I just scrap it? I know theres a few 413 cars around but most people opt for big brother (440), the rebuild is probably going to be $$$
there is NO WAY I would build a M.W. 413 block for anything other than a 1962 M.W. car Put it on here in the parts for sale and ask at least $400.00 for it, sell it and buy a 440 block and get to going Origial 413 M.W. blocks are probally only a little bit harder to find than a 1964 production race hemi block
May just do that. I need to confirm the casting numbers yet, googling for those now.

The M.W. blocks probally where the same casting number as some of the other blocks, maybe marine or industrail castings, maybe not ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif) The M.W.426 blocks where a special casting as there where no street 426 wedges sold until 1964 ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/1343795-scratchchin.gif) The real M.W. blocks I have seen and owned had special numbers stamped into the pad on the front showing assembly dates and high or low compression as well as other information pertinent to that motor ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scope.gif) Good luck ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)

Ya' what are the casting #'s?? Are there 1852029 or 2205697? If it's a 1852029 block, does it have AAQA? Are the cylinders notched? And what does it have on the ID pad?(should be HP something, with large fond letters) ALL this needs to be there for a real 62 Max Wedge block! Just my ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Twocents.gif)

Scrap is a lot more than $5 so it is a win either way.
That's what I was going to say. Even if it's just a garden variety 413 you still don't lose money.

If the pad is stamped like this, bingo! If not, it was just a regular old HD 413 block...
BTW- some early 413 MW engines just used the regular pass car casting.
