Hello folks ,
I have a question about surface polish on a rod journal.I accidently scratched a rod journal in my 440,and i have dressed it out with some 320 grit wet or dry ,but now the surface looks different (duh). What should the polish be ,i mean in grit, like 600 or 1000?just need to get this right ,the scratch was very minor, cant catch a nail on it.What would you guys use for the final polish???
thanks ,craig

I have used emery cloth with oil to polish a spot...
I rapped it all the way around(360*) and hit the whole
journal... this was after I used a stone on the
bad spot... that crank is still running

You want it as smooth as posiible, as Mike has said wrap it 360 with the sandpaper, 1000 and then 2000 grit and use a string or piece of leather to rotate it back and forth evenly
