Want to know if a 66-70 B-body K-frame will work right in a 62-65 B-body. Thanks!

It will physically bolt on but it moves the engine back about an inch so the trans mount needs to be reworked and it may cause an issue with a crossram at the firewall? I'm not sure exactly what is involved with the trans mount because the 62-65 uses a different trans mount.

Obviously you have to use the later idler arm if you use a 68-70 K and I don't know if the steering box is in the same location either ???

The engine setback is nice and you get to use the more readily avaible engine mounts and brackets .

Did you buy an early B ?

It's not that hard , no time like the present to learn . I'll be calling the shop and see if he can sneak it in .

I've done several late K-member conversions in early B's, the motor is setback 1 5/8" which makes for more fan clearance and allows the use of later pans and headers.

Since the steering remains the same the idler arm only needs to be correct for the mounting style. (single stud or through bolt)

The trans crossmember can be modified so the "box" is set back into the trans crossmember and you can use the cheaper 66-70 B-Body trans mount. Single 4bbl will fit, but the crossram will require some firewall massaging...

It also provides more clearance for a pair of turbochargers.

I have seen alot of races put the newer K-frame in them for the eng setback to get more weight closer to the rear wheels and help traction. But the tires we have now a days work so good you really dont have to do it unless you are making 1000 hp. I still have the stock K-frame in my 63 and it all works great. It hooks ok for a 9" tire. I like the fact that it gives alot of room at the firewall with the stock K-frame. Heck I can get all the bellhousing bolts out from the top other then the 2 bottom ones. Is this a race car or street car ? Ron

I have one of each of those frames and it looks like more than 1 5/8" difference. I will have to actually measure this weekend. Did anyone have any interference issues at the firewall with a b-motor, especially around the hvac plumbing?

I have an A/C car without the A/C components. There are no problems than I can see. It might be different if it actually had A/C.
