Why is toe sometimes expressed in degrees rather than inches and is there a conversion method ?

Years ago it was in inches, then 'they' changed it to degrees. Yes there is a conversion, it's been posted in another thread here, I don't remember which thread. I may or may not have saved the chart.

When specified in inches I've seen the measurement taken 10" from the steering axis & I've seen guys take the same measurement 24" from the steering axis... That means the angle is 2.4 times different... With a specified angle every car gets the same treatment..

Expressing toe in inches [ or millimeters ] has the advantage of requiring very little equipment and can be done quickly at the track. Stock car racers, especially dirt trackers frequently get things knocked out of kilter and being able to check and reset toe quickly is an important consideration. Some autocrossers may want a little toe out on their rear drive cars on the track, but want toe in for normal driving.
