hello,
has anyone used a mls gasket (cometic) on a block with a o-ring groove (without o-ring) or would i have to deck the block (mp megablock), was using copper gaskets, before mls got popular, copper gaskets seem to be a pain (12.5-1)

You will need to fill the groove or deck the block to get rid of the groove. MLS gaskets are very picky about surface finish. Copper gaskets are fine if installed properly. Clean everything well, use RTV around all oil and water holes. Put the RTV on the block and heads, not the gasket. Heat cycle the engine and re-torque the heads. Re-torque is very important on copper gaskets.
Hope this helps, Bob
