.030 440 stock crank, h-beam rods, ross pistons (approx 11.2:1) Ported Stage VI heads, H/S roller rockers, Comp cams solid roller (580-588 lift), small 1 3/4 headers, Orange box ing, stock 6-pack, 3800 Turbo Action stall, 727 w/ T/A Man Vale body, 3.91's on drag radials. The 11.389 was coming out easy because I had stock axles, going to push it a tad harder next time...oh yeah and I run a snow pwerformance meth/water injection kit...

383man ran 11.50 with a stock stroke 440 (with no exotic parts) in a 3800# car w/auto and 4.30 gear. He had a well sorted, simple combo.
I think Ron was running about 10:1 (maybe 10.5:1) Ported heads, 557 solid cam, 1 7/8" headers, not sure about his intake but is was s single 4bbl car.

I want to keep my compression down in the 9:7 Range and I'll be staying with the 906 heads, thats why I was leaning towards stroking it. I want the Factory appearing..but plenty of power to go mid ll's. I didnt think could accomplish this with a stock stroke?
Maybe, probally hard to do. Make yourself a 541 motor, 4.5 stroke with 4.375 bore, 9.5 to 1 compression and go with a big grin on your face I made a 512 low deck stroker six pak motor several years back,(4.375 bore with 4.25 stroke) 2003-2004. It made 612 HP at 5600 RPM and 644 Ft. lbs torque at 4500 RPM with a low deck Eddy six pak set up with stock 1970 6 pak vacume carbs That was on SO CA pump swill back then, the bigger motor will make more power I used a set of 906 heads that had 2.14 intakes and 1.81 exhaust valves with mild porting and polishing, 9.25 to1 actaul compression ratio I did run a custom grind Comp Cams solid roller camshaft that was 260 @ .050 intake side with 266 @ .050 on the exhaust side and aluminum roller rockers that ended up checking out to be 1.54 ratio, they where suppose to be 1.60 There are several things a hot rodder can never have to much of, HP, traction and fun
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I was running 10.0 comp with 906 heads , .557 cam , Holley SD intake , 850 DP and 1-3/4 Hedman headers. 11.49 was the best on that combo. Nothing fancy just a cheap mid 11 driver combo. Why dont you go with the Stealth heads as they look stock when you paint them ? Ron

Such a nice looking car.
If you're looking for max power, I think you need to run the CR/cylinder pressure up as high as you can get away with. To do this, you need to generally know what cam you are going to use, and where the intake valve is going to close. To pick the best cam, you need to know if you are going with manifolds, or headers. The intake valve closing point can be very different between those two camshafts.
Said differently, you need to decide pretty early on if it will be a manifold or header engine if you are looking to maximize the combo IMO.

My A12 '69 Six Pack Superbee was a 13.2 to 1, stock stroke 440 with "entry level" FAST porting 906's by Dwayne Porter.......Had a Porter solid roller.......car weighed about 3,900 race ready......4-speed.....exhaust manifolds.....on hard tires through the mufflers the only time I had it at the track went 11.86 @ 119mph........ When you lower the compression you'll have to run a smaller camshaft, but I bet it still would have gotten into the 11's with sticky tires......but I agree, if you want to run minivan propellant, I'd stroke it......
If you can't handle the truth, you're living a lie.......
