OP, what is the application, street, street and strip or race only? Which alcohol are you wanting to use, Methanol or Ethanol? How much power do you want to make total? It makes a lot of difference

There are alot of different ways to go about what you are asking. Do you have any class rules etc? Were you looking all new/used or combo? Is this going in a drag car? Alot of options on these motors and opions are going to very widely. With that being said here is my short story on my hemi. BAE billet block/heads. Stage 4 fat heads. 540 cube. Silver stand BAE/stage V rocker gear.K-11 superman 50 over. Rage pump. Jdf hat. msd 20 mag. On methanal. 2wd pulling truck. I would be glad to talk to you and help you get started. I am no guru but I have learnt a few things along the way.

Some questions:

1) What type of racing are you going to do?

2) What transmission are you going to run?

3) What experience do you have with a blown alky motor?

4) How many passes do you need the motor to last?

5) What is telling you of your required HP goals of 2000-2500HP?

6) Do you have a crew member to maintain the engine in between and at the races?

7) What type of budget are you planning on for MOTOR only? Not including all the incedentals etc.

Buy a used complete motor and request the seller to give you some tuning and maintenance advice/tips.

you can pick an older ready to run ex-top alcohol motor for $10K-15K.

Just be carefull what you buy. I been down that road. Bought a "ready to run long block" with cracks in the pistons and block. The titanium valves, oil pump and cam was junk. The crank was twisted. You get the picture. If you do buy used have a third party check the motor/ parts out before you buy. There are some good deals.Another thing to think about is do you want to go with fuel or fatheads. The parts don't interchange. If your looking to go as fast as you can on a buget you can go fast for a fairly cheap.

Make the motor C.I. as big as possible, if your absolutely set on running a 14:71 then buy a high helix max boost unit, don't scrimp and buy a BDS or similar cheap blower The screw blowers are better, I would go with one if I had the choice Buy the best flowing heads and the best crankshaft, aluminum rods, pistons and tool steel thick wall wristpins and the best valve gear you can get That power level is doable, but not cheaply Let us know how it goes BTW, I'm availble for consulting by the hour, not real cheap though PM me if interested

You do NOT want big cubic inches with a blown alky motor.
That is not a good approach. You will notice almost all serious effort professional level motors of this type are 490-520 cubic inches. There is a reason for that.

Yup...Most guys are not up for the challenge. Best to hookup with a known successful tuner and buy what he tells you. I go 265 mph with 451"

Gotta have deep pockets anyway you do it, you up for it?
Also like what was said, can't do it by yourself, that blown hemi needs lot's of maintance and loves to eat parts and spit them out sometimes on the first run.
You need to determine what motor, what blower and fuel system first, then build the car around it. Not the other way around. Got to build the car with maintance in mind.

If you do this, listen to only one person and nobody on this board.
There's many ways to tune a blown motor, but you can't mix em.

Thanks for all the feed back. I know its not going to be cheap.
Is it possible to build a motor with that type of HP and only have to maintenance(rings, bearing, ect) it every 10-15 passes.

What are the most relible parts to do this build in your opinions?
(block,heads,crank,rods, blower).

Thank again,

Mike

Gary,

I " think" I know what you mean....sorta....

I was giving him advice based on experience, not mumbo jumbo or sideline quarterbacks....we have a 451 combo also that runs well...good combos.

Dynoed the blower over the winter and Bob spent some time at Rage this Winter....all new...so hopefully it doesnt give us too much grief re-tuning it....I dont think so though. We were at the limits of the pump.
