I am moving the springs in-board on my 71 Satellite, I have the front boxes welded in and am working on the rear. Should the rear mount be put in the frame using a hole saw or welded to the bottom of the frame and use gussets.
Any pics of this would be great!!
Thanks again!

I believe if your moving your leafs in the frame rails - you can mark and drill on the rear of the rail where the leaf spring should be, and i've seen guys weld a tube that goes through the rail to make it stronger like on the original mount.

The instructions that come in the kit, state it can be done either way. Just want to see what everyone's opinion was. This will be a street car and drag car.

Putting the hole in the frame will provide a lwoer ride height, so from a handling perspective, I'd go here. If this is for a drag car, put it under the frame rail.

Here is the way we did the front eyes on my '65 Coronet. The rear eyes are tubes welded thru the frame.

The real answer to your question depends on the ride height that you want. You should measure that first and then you'll know where you need to put the eye.

Andy..Thats how i have the front set up and I put the tube in the frame in the rear for the shackle, but the tube was too high in the frame and the spring was rubbing on the frame. So should i drop the hole down or just mount to the underside of the frame and gusset it?
