buddy just bought this car.clean- maintained car.did a timing belt as maintenance,a few days later in the colder weather, won't idle, just goes up- down,up down, stalls, nothing consistent.sometimes it's rich sometimes lean.It also has a hesitation. I've checked and repaired all the vacuum lines, t-body is clean,But I also installed a different one that I had with all sensor still attached.Used 2 full cans of carb cleaner,A vacuum leak does not show up.I know these also have problems with the map sensor and lines since they are so long and go on the logic module inside.I have a good reading on the scan tool.I also noticed that there is a reman power module next to the battery.Runs good and strong, just NO idle.I did the relearn, didn't help.timing is right on.belt is right. done hundreds of these.Egr valve seems to be closed.I do hear a slight exhaust leak. Can something in the turbo cause a problem?? I'm out of basic ideas. TURBO dodge forum was no help either.

I had an 87 Daytona which ran great at engine speeds of 2000RPM or higher when cold. After warmup, it would run at lower speeds, but wouldn't idle. Turned out it was the coolant temperature sensor right by the thermostat. I didn't get any codes.

What have you got the timing set at? I used to own an 87 Shelby Z. Best I remember the timing needs to be 12 degrees advanced for it to run right. I never fooled much with the turboI motors though. I would definately check the coolant sensor if everything else checks out.

Check the fuel pressure? If fuel pressure is off, the idle motor may be going up and down to try to correct? Also had one where the map sensor hose fell off, but you said you checked that already. Will it idle fine with the coolant temp sensor unplugged? Hope it does because that's how you're supposed to set the ignition timing.

I don't know if this thing has an idle air control valve, but if it does you need to look at it. If it's sticking or just blown to crap you will never get a consistent idle.
