I know there's multiple places to buy RHS LA-X heads.
Hughes, Mancini, Indy, IMM, etc.
Who's got the best bang for the buck on an assembled set of heads? I'm pretty much looking for the basic LA-X head but with 2.02s installed. Before I drop $1k+ would like to know who does what before they ship them to my door.

IMM (OU812), does some special bowl cuts that pull more flow numbers out of them for not a lot of extra $$.
I'm pretty sure OU812/Brian or his dad are the ones doing the actual machine work. From cradle to grave type place.

You need to consider your cam specs while looking at the standard offerings from each. I think IMM is the only one that will handle lift much over .500.
Hughes and Indy standard packages are similar, with upgrades available.
IMM pretty much only offers one flavor, but it's a good one.
I don't believe Mancini is even in the game. They weren't last year when I ordered mine.
I went with IMM for mine. It was overkill with my relatively mild build, but I've got room to grow.
I should also add that IMM gives the no-cost option to tune the chamber size from 63-67 cc.

I'm glad to see that there's consensous on IMM.
I see his prices have gone up. For my relatively mild 360 build, is it worth the extra $500 to go with IMM vs. direct from Indy? My camshaft is a Lunati 60402 cam. I'm running KB362 pistons.

Don't buy anything direct from indy!
You best compare what you are buying and what you will receive. The indy stuff is NOTHING like the parts you'll get from Brian. From the spring package to the better valves Brian uses.
If you want to buy on price, find the cheapest you can get. It's like comparing a hamburger to a Filet Mignon, both are beef product but I know what I'd rather eat!

For a more modest build (and budget), I'd probably go with the Hughes offering.

Ok, it looks like Hughes is back on the list. I have used them before and no complaints on their other stuff.
So now it is definitely between Brian (IMM) and Hughes.
I can definitely see the first class work Brian does and can compare it to Hughes (at least on their websites).
I'd honestly consider the Edelbrocks at this point, but the engine was built with the LA-X heads in mind, and I know there's "hidden costs" when going to aluminum.
Is the choice based solely on $$$? No, this 360 has definitely been about Bang for my $; and future "upgrade-ability."
So I guess I'm comparing my need to buy some filet mignon or sirloin for my mild 360. I'll assume I've already culled the 75% lean ground from the list.

I'm fairly certain the Iron Rams need magnum rockers. The RHS's can be had either way.

I've thought about those enginequest heads. They may be a possibility. Yes they all use the Magnum Rockers. But they may also require work in the pushrod area and to be redrilled for my LA style intake (another possible $125).
There may also be a cost difference in the rocker gear. Do I reuse my stamped rockers in the RHS heads?
Where IMM shines on value is if I do need the spring pockets cut for dual or behive springs, then, they are definitely the best value on the market.
But my camshaft is .474/.499 lift. Here's the rub, it seems if I ever want to change cams, I should have that service performed. But could I run my camshaft with those pockets milled? Should I hold on that? The more I read and take notes, the more questions I have. But I feel I'm very close to making a good informed decision.

IMM heads are not cut for dual springs. I tried to test fit my Comp Cam doubles. It's a no go. They have the large OD guides and seals. You're pretty much stuck with the beehives, or a conventional single with damper.
The pockets are cut deeper for a taller spring installed height.

this package seems to be a good deal, but I'd actually probably lean towards their enginequest offering here to use cheaper rockers...
Patrick don't those use the same rockers? Looks like they will both take stock LA style
the "LA" enginequest (Iron Ram in Hughes lingo) are a magnum head with an LA intake bolt pattern. it still uses magnum rockers
the RHS LAX heads use shaft rockers, the MAX use magnum rockers.

the EQ heads I linked to have LA intake bolt pattern. the hughes #1110 springs are good for a hydraulic roller or solid flat tappet up to about .540" lift...stock magnum rockers are reasonable cost, and seemed plenty stout for my .506" lift cam...
