A friend called me up and said he was putting his 1966 383 back together and that his pushrods had a small end and a big end. He can't remember which end goes to the lifter and which goes to the rocker. It's a hydraulic cam.
I told him he should just throw away the stock rockers and buy some nice adjustables and nice new pushrods but he's a little cheap.

Thanks for the help!

Small end in the lifter, if you reverse them the small end will puncture the stock rockers after a while Don't ask me how I know that

Could this also happen using the small end in a hyd lifter with the larger cup ?

Your friend needs to get a later set of pushrods that are the same size at both ends I would think assuming he is using new lifters , the ydon't make the small cup lifters anyore.

I have a set he can have for shipping .

Been there. Thanks to a PO making this mistake, I got to build a new motor. Rod punched a hole in the rocker, lifter popped out, lost oil pressure, bearings toast. Rebuild time.

I agree with John.If he changed lifters trash the old pushrods.Get a new set.We installed a set from Summit in my kids 62 300.They have been in for the last 12 years and no problems.Rocky
