I have pulled the rear axel from my 65 barracuda. When I was going to re-line the rear brakes everything was covered with dirt and grime which I assume is from a leaking rear axel seal. The bearing seems good. My question is do I need to replace the bearing and I believe their are 2 seals? I have everything apart now and am at a stand still. Also do I need to have someone press the bearing on if I have to replace it.
Thanks,
Tommy

If you have rear end lube in the brake area replace the inner seal The outer seal is more of a dust seal to keep dirt and debrie out of the bearing area. It is usually only replaced when the bearing is replaced. Clean and repack the bearing with a good wheel bearing grease and reinstall the axle as per http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/axle/12.html

Hi, thanks for the info. I guess I will order some parts and go ahead and finish the front end while I wait.
