i have a 61 Wide block 318 push button auto car. I was wondering if this transmission can be used with other motors?

Any Ideas?

That trans will bolt up to a 273,318,340 and 360.You will have to use the torque converter that came with that trans. The imput shaft is different from later 727s.You can have a trans shop build that trans and install a later imput shaft

as said above. basically any sb will bolt up including the later magnum engines.

I have a 65 coronet I put in a 2000 durango motor into used the stock 727 that came behind my poly 318.

1 bolt doesn't line up and I could not reuse the braces that bolt between the block and transmission, but has been running fine with it for the last 2 or 3 years.

No need to panic - smallblock tranny bolts up to bigblock with either a JVX adapter or JW Ultrabell. That way you get to keep the typewriter.

one bolt hole in the transmission doesn't line up with the block. driverside near the top as I recall.

op, yeah, you have to change transmissions to use a BB.

There are a couple of choices find another cable shifted BB trans(see cores for them on the classifieds here) use a later model and a later model floor shifter.

I think it is agreed that the imperial services adapter is crap.

BUT I did notice the later truck/ van's late 90's and up seem to use some sort of cable to shift their transmissions.

When I was stealing parts to do the kick down parts for my magnum swap, I noticed that there were cables instead of linkages doing the shifting for those vans.
might be a way to adapt that to the pushbutton stuff, but someone would have to measure the throws vs the movment from the buttons.
