Here is part of the sets we made for Dick Towers. We used his boots and tubes, and our wire. Correct, the 180 boots had a totally different spark plug tube and dust boot than the 135 degree later-style Hemi. The earliest date coded wire we've seen , as stated , was 66 or 67, in orange, if I remember correctly. 8mm wire did not come out until the late 70's , from Delphi for GM's. Our wire is 7mm and not the redder type, it's the dull orange. pics are hard to show. As we understood it , from a half a dozen guys that would know, the redder Hemi wire was left over from the 57 Hemi's, and since only around 100 68 SS cars were to be built, they had enough left over on the shelf from the old Chryslers, they used that.

Early max wedge and 64-65 Hemicars had the dull orange. Through the years, dealerships got more of the red in, for whatever reason, and customers or mechanics re-wired with the redder orange.

Below is 7mm and for 64-65 race-Hemi only. Special spark plug tubes are needed. Again, they were only made of aluminum, and most were harshly-used and tossed, and guys ended up using the later-model tubes and boots.

Below is the later model boots, but still the original color orange. Dick is using this combo for a dual-plug Hemi.

Both styles. Once we get enough sets made, we will be making an announcement through here and the mags. As of right now, we will make customers sets , using their boots and tubes. We have the wire in solid core, like original, and in suppression, for MSD's and radio-friendly. They are premium sets, and priced accordingly. But a lot cheaper than those found on the bag !!!

Rick, can you get me the correct tan tubes and straight boots like in the picture, id like to get a set like the ones in the picture above.
want to spend some money for my A990 Hemi Coronet, it needs some of those wires.

Sorry, Chris. Those are a customers. Those are extremely rare to find. If you have or find them, I'll put the wire in !! I do have sets in the orange wire, with the stock tubes and dust covers, though..

Glad to see/ hear so many guys had attended the All Hemi Reunion as I found it to be one of the best All hemi gatherings that I have been too. The correct spark plug wire for the 64-65 Race hemi engines is the dark red 7mm solid core aircraft wire, that's what Mr. Hoover called it. I have originals and this stuff has an almost slick plastic sheath with the tan insulators and six cylinder short boot's that were left over from the early 354-392 Hemis. I also have the NOS over the counter orange wires that seem to be more of a silicone sheath that is fairly sticky to the touch as well as the Street Hemi typer large boot's and white insulators. My NOS set have packard and '67 date code on them. None of my 65 wires have anything on them? I believe that the '67 RO-WO cars used the later orange style wire as well as the '68 LO-BO cars since they used all iron heads and Street hemi tubes and boot's. Well done there Sunroof GTX, now can ya'll please come up with an authentic brick red, solid core wire. Some of us A990 Hemi guys could really use them! Thanks, JC.

Quicksilver, thanks, i was telling Rick that at the hemi reunion but a few guys were adament that they were orange. i knew that was incorrect but i told rick it was red. a few guys had his ear and giving the wrong information.

now if we can get those red wires like i asked months ago, he'd be selling the correct wires and a ton of it.lets go Rick!!!
now the problem is the correct boots and tubes!!

Chris. I love ya.. Thanks for the info, Quicksilver. We were getting all kind of guess's at the reunion. So what was the orange stuff used for again > Only 67 ss cars. The red wire is not a silicone wire sheathing. We believe it actually changed color over the years. Quicksilver, can you check under the dist. boot to see if the red matches what is under the boot ? Thanks. Chris, we have the red, it's just not the hemi-red. Its red-red.. I'll post a pic later. Here are our orange 7mm suppression wires. We also have them in a solid core like the originals.

orange you have is a dead on match to the max wedge plug wire.i think the 6 cylinder used it as well in early applications as well.mopar went to black in 66 but67 ro-wo cars had red hemi wires and same as 68 ss barracudas and darts.
this info. comes from a max wedge race hemi guru from Pa, he has the original wires and gave me a set of the max wedge wires.
