so after a lil help from my buddy Mark I decided to really get down to business with the lean burn B.S... so after about a week of letting my car just sit there half way in my garage I took a razor knife to the tape on the computer connector, peeled all the tape back, cut the ground wire, and out came the whole entire leanburn wiring harness! I'm now embarrassed that I let my car sit idle for so long when removing the stupid harness took me all of about 15 minutes (2 or 3 John Mellencamp songs)... saweeeet! waiting now for my kickdown bracket, carb spacer, and ballast resistor, and I should be laying one letter like a champ!

The four barrel carburetor and intake swap will probably not produce the performance gains that you expect. Keep in mind that your 5th Ave. is equipped with either a 2.24 or a 2.26 ratio rear end. The poor performance of the stock setup is due to the excessively tall rear end ratio, not the "Electronic Fuel Control System" (Lean Burn) engine controls. Despite what you have read on this board, the factory setup can be tuned to deliver good driveability and fuel economy. My '85 Diplomat runs great!
