On a 540 I had a very good set of 440-1s with 2.25 Intakes.. The next Year I switched to the 572-13s on same Engine.. On Hemphills Dyno the 572-13s made 35 more HP over the -1s.. It also moved peak power from 6800 to 7300.. The 572-13s the power didn't fall off as fast past peak like the -1s. The power fall was gradual to 8000 on the 572-13.. I know the B-1 Stuff and Predator is Better but the Indy stuff put Me in the Power level I needed at the Time.

I run the 572-13 and not only like them but run fast with them. It will cost you a lot more $$$ to change over to the B1 stuff over the 572-13.

Happy with ours but if I were to upgrade I'd go to the B1 PSO's. Also interested in the above combo. Best machine has some good flow info which may help with your choice. http://bestmach.ipower.com/flowsheets.htmHTH's Tig.

You really have to make a decision on what power you want the engine to make N/A. If your goal is 900-1000 i would not touch the 572-13 and go right to the B1's or B1'MC's. If you want 1000+ then start looking at the preds or PSO's. But at this point saving money is not easy

I was going to build a 572 and changed my mind..I sold all the engine parts including the 572-13 heads..
I have some pictures you may want to see...they are of the heads ported...they were done by Hensley about 10 years ago..never flowed them but by the looks they should have flowed easily in the 400's..
I was looking to make 1,000hp..many guys in Nostalgia/SS are making in the 900-1,000hp range..
Thanks they look real good i may give them a call i know them guys thanks for showing me them heads .

Steeldust, Can you post some performance numbers for your car with the -1's on the 572? compression , weight, et , etc? Mopar Rich in conjunction with Mopar Engines West are building me a 572, we will be using the 440-1's off of there 2006 Mopar Muscle engine challenge motor, (these same heads have gone 9.20's on my 500" pump gas motor, which was the original challenge motor) after reading this thread I am more convinced to stay with the -1's for now as I really don't want high rev's to make power. Our current motor with -1's that aren't quite as messaged is making just under 800hp and has ran a best of 9.04 at sea level in a 2825 pound car. The goal is to run in the high 8's on pump gas, we will also be losing some weight as the block will be an aluminum KB.

Some more foood for thought. Don't get all caught up comparing flow numbers there are more differences that make horsepower between the 440-1's and the 572-13 heads.
