where it bolts to the flex plate. Cracked at the weld. Is this a common occurrence? It's the first one I've ever heard of.

It's a 10 inch from PTC. It is not my intent to slam PTC at all. It has hundreds of runs on it and a few nitrous runs. It has been a good converter. The car has been deadly consistant and has helped me be in the money at quite a few races. Had a leak I thought was a front seal but my trans guy didn't think it was the seal and asked to see the converter. Sure enough, cracked weld. He also said it was a ford converter adapted to a mopar. I thought that was kinda odd.

in the old days the Falcon 10 inch converter was the one most shops adapted to drag race applications with a 10 inch converter, Ford Cortina nine inch and Opel 8 inch where used also for drag racing A friend of mine went through the cracking lugs on his older 8 inch race converter, had it repaired twice after breaking it pretty severaly the first time and then reinjuring it the second time He ended up buying a new 9.5 inch after the second time, racing parts wear out

I'm with ya Cab. I have pretty much worn this one out. I told my trans guy to repair and rebuild it and I would put it on the shelf as a back up. This also gives me a chance to run the new J.W. converter and do a comparison.
