Learning how to read some codes on different stuff and I got an electrical motor with some Charger parts. I want to know what it all means and what I think it means???
It reads on the barrel.
3431437
7369
2146

I am thinking March 7th 1969 by the center #'s.
Is that correct?
What do the bottom #'s represent.
Thanks in advance...

It's a headlight door motor for a '70 Charger. Built on the 73rd day of '69.

So this 4 digit code is not day month year...
I knew it was a headlamp door motor just didn't know if it was the "correct" dated one...
Thanks..

Are the numbers underneath are dealer vendor #'s?

Sorry John. That is incorrect.
The date code are the bottom numbers.
7369 is the vendor code.
2146 is the date code. It is the 214th day of 1966 or Aug the 2 nd of 66.

Jules

..... since this headlight motor didn't exist in '66 & was used thru the '70s on other hidden headlight Dodges (other Mopars?).

2146 = Sunday, August 1, 1976

The part number would be too early for a 77 I think.
Maybe it is a mis stamp date code.
The 437 part number was usually found on 71/72 Chargers.
Or it may have been carried forward to 77.
The info on this seems to be conflicting.
Weren't there 67 C bodies with headlight motors?

This part number doesn't seem to show up on the list.
Should also be 70 Charger.
Thanks for the list Dan.

So it probably was a replacement one???? Are all the date codes on the bottom then when they are "written" like this?

So it's...

Part #
Dealer vendor #
Date code

Thanks again for any info just trying to learn how to read some of these...

Unless it's near NOS. It was probably originally installed on a '77 Dodge c-body or Chrysler & later removed from said car in a junkyard and may or may not have ever been installed on a Charger. Parts/numbers/dates/location/format varied regularly.

Part #3431437
vendor #73691 (this is a number CHRYSLER CORP. assigned to the motor's manufacturer) Jules - Do you know who it was?
Date code 2146 (214th day of 1976 - Sunday 8/1/76)

Quote:

3431211
73691
2939 (393rd day of 1969 - Monday 10/20/69)

I couldn't find any reference to this part number. The '70-'71 Catalog I have is the Jan.'72 "final version" - I'd guess it was an early version and replaced during 1970 for either the 3431437 or 3431438 (what's the difference between the two 437/438 ?). I've had a number of the '70 Fury type, including a couple with a rubber "boot" over the working end of the motor, did they all have the "boot" 211/437/438 or is that one of the differences between Charger & Fury?

Are there 1969 dates for 3431437 & 3431438?

Dan,
I wish I could be more of a help but headlightmotors are not my strong point.
The only differences I have noticed is that some motors have rectangular holes in the gears and some have square holes.
I know that 70 Chargers use the square holes. 211 motors seem to have the large wheel at the bottom. All others have the small wheel.
I have yet to recieve a motor for rebuild with a rubber boot on it.
I do not know who the vendor code is.
Jules
