Been doing several hours of research on motorhomes recently, just wondered what your thoughts might be on which manufacturer has the best overall unit and why. Read some about the differences in the fiberglass and rubber roofs, the chassis differences, etc. Just wondering overall which ones hold up the best I guess. Looking mainly at Newmar, Holiday Rambler, Fleetwood, Coachmen, and Damon.

Not sure if Winnebago makes a diesel pusher..but they make a really nice coach that holds it's value.

Yeah, forgot to mention the Winnebago. Actually our first MH, was a 31' Brave. Lost the keys to the doors and called them up, they were awesome to work with. Unit was a 91 model and they had a set of keys to me within a few days.

i don't own one, but have worked on holiday, fleetwood & coachman at work(allison transmission). all were nice, depends if u take care of it or not. i have road tested both versions, the pushed to me, felt better. less drive shafts too. easier to service too.

I just purchased a 2000 Holiday Rambler they are made by Monaco coach and fall in the mid range of quality vs. price. It has a 330 CAT with 40K miles. I looked at a bunch of coaches and this was the best cared for that we looked at. Watch for evidence of leaky roofs and delaminating side walls.

Look for one 2003 or older. Diesels built after Oct '03 have EGR and assorted emissions garbage on them that is a bill of expense to maintain and adversely affects fuel mileage.

I have had trailers with rubber roofs......stay away from them, my latest has a metal roof... :two cents:
