I personally would use 6 to 8 floor stands, instead of using one side pan, i would go with a full floor, not much more expensive, but it makes the over all job better and cleaner, you just drill out the spot welds, and reweld in the same place, plus it puts the value up as well, easiest way to clean up the rust would be a sand blaster attached to an air compressor, small ones are cheap, and you can get media, like soda by the bag as well

Thanks guys for the help. I have a good compressor so sand blasting sounds good, but how do you get to everything? You know, some places are small crevices and tight spots. How would i take care of rust there?
A braided wire cup wheel on a cheapie angle grinder does wonders.
Just be careful around edges!

I need help. I am trying to clean the frame and underneath of my 65 Barracuda. What method would you guys suggest? I will have to replace the right side floor pans and would like to clean up the best I can so This problem will not come back. I don't have any way to turn the car on the side to really get under it. It is on jack stands. I am open to ideas. Chemical, sand blasting, soda blasting. Let me know what you guys think would be best for me to use. thanks
I would only media blast if the car was totally stripped to a bare shell and on a rotisserie. Otherwise you will stick media where you will never be able to get it out. There are many different grades of "black beauty" From super fine to super course.
In your case laying on your back. A map gas torch and a scraper or just a wire brush on a drill like what was mentioned is best in your case. Good luck with it.
I know a little bit about media blasting and coal slage(black beauty) as I buy it by the skid.
