My 73 Challenger hood will go down to flush when I push down the back corners, but after driving for a while the corners are up about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. Does this mean the hinges are worn out?

Have you tried shooting some white lithium grease on the hinges and springs?

The Imperial had the same problem until I lubed it.

No it usually means there not adjusted right. Raise the rear of the hinge and it'll make the rear of the hood go down, seriously.

RestoRick taught me that. Go to his website and he'll explain.
Thanks to Restorick for that.
He can rebuild your hinges too if they need it.

Mine do the same, and it's bad enough that with hood pins I have to "adjust" the rear to get them to clear.

I too was told they were worn, and since I've been dropping coin on engine pieces I hadn't gotten around to replacing them - this is worth checking out

I had the same problem with my Cuda, the rear corners of the hood raised up. I could push them down, but as soon as I started driving, they would pop back up again. I started experimenting with the hinges before I painted it two summers ago, and found that if I tipped the hinges a little from back to front by raising the rear and lowering the front of the hinge a little bit, my hood would stay down - I don't even need to push the corners down after shutting it, they go down when the hood is closed, and stay down.
