Once upon a time I owned a '70 Mercury Cougar. I had a Marti report as well as an Emminger report (assembly line build sheet w/ prices). It also had the info such as where your car was built and sold (dealership name and location). As well as how many were built in it's original configuration. So, my question is: Is there a resource available for MOPAR owners to find out the same info? I would be curious to know where my car was originally sold at and spent it's "formative" years! Thanks, Steve

Our board has a group of members that can help you with finding that information. If you give the info from your option tag, then those members can help you out.

Just so you know in advance, there are no known factory records that will tell you (in detail per it's individual options) how many of your cars version were built. What is available are records that Galen Govier has obtained from Chrysler years ago which he published in his (available for sale) "White Books". His books offer breakdowns by model, engine, and transmission in US sales and Export sales. Example; there were 14,218 total 1971 (RM23) Road Runners Built. Of those 11,682 were 383 powered, 7,952 automatics, 3,730 with manual transmission. There is no further "official" breakdown other than percentage of colors which is really only a guestimate, not an exact number. In addition, guys like Barry Washington and Galen Govier have compiled a registry list of "known" existing cars which might give you a better idea of how many of any one combo exists today, but it is by no means complete. You can contact them for further details at the addresses posted above. If you have your cars original VIN number, Fender Tag, and Broadcast Sheet we can decode them for you here if you wish to post pics/scans of them (or if you'd like to email them to me I'll do it no charge).

Thanks guys. I am pretty much good with the decoding, as I was helped with that a while ago: https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/show...&PHPSESSID=I am not too concerned about the rarity of my car or "how many" q's like on my Cougar. What I would like to find (and it looks as if it may be impossible to discern) is where the car was sold. Dealership, city, state. That is what I would like to know. I know my car is from Oregon (last state before being here in Maine), but where it was before that and where it was originally sold in the 1971 time frame, interests me. Thanks! Steve

Yeah, it doesn't get much further apart than that. I have an Oregon title from 2001 (Cottage Grove). And an Oregon driver's license was found in the car during disassembly.
Who knows how many times it has been bought and sold between 2001 and 1971 and where it was registered.
Thanks,
Steve
That is an avenue to pursue, although I am sure the privacy act will kick in to some degree. LoL
Sorry to report "Robot" from Lost In Space, passed away a few days ago.
Maybe you could start with the D.M.V. in Cottage Grove Oregon and see if it lists where the car was titled before? Then so on and so on. It seems I've heard stories to this affect, but maybe they were just, stories.
