This will be for a car that will run Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night,,on a dirt track...aproximately 35-50 laps per night,, 3/8 of a mile per lap,,,not 4-5 1/4 mile laps a year. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif) Just kidding Fred,, I have also ran just the silicone. Just wondering about these gaskets. Some times, there is not enough time to allow the silicone to cure properly before replacing the headers after an 'incident'. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)

from my limited experience I have learned that a majority of leaks come from poor fitting flanges that are not dead on flat. one cure is to split the flange where ever you can and enlarge the bolt hole a hair. then any decent gasket has a chance to seal. very little can be done with a warped flange. dead flat surfaces like on cast iron manifolds allow no gasket and still seal ok

Getting back to the original qustion,,has anybody used the Kooks gaskets? They seem to be made from a 'different' type of material. It looks like a felt of some sort on a metal body. Supposed to withstand 2000+*.
