What's the difference and how do I know what I have on my stock 69 Charger 440?

Its B or RB. 361, 383, and 400 are B Blocks. 413, 426, and 440 are RB.

Forgot the 383 RB engine of a 1 or 2 year run.

If you have a 383 built after 1960 then it's a B engine.

Have a look at both motors and compare the area to the driver's side of the distributor. The 440 (RB) will have a flat machined pad with the displacement stamped on it. The 383 (B) will not. The RB motors (Raised Block) have taller cylinders and as a result are also wider. Heads, cams, fuel pumps, oil pans, etc. interchange but intakes don't. The B distributor and pushrods are shorter.

The RB is wider than a B.
if it's a 440 it will be stamped on the block
near the dist.
I am sure there are some that might not be
stamped but generally it's the norm.

There are two variants of the B engine series. The B has a deck height of 9.980", 2.625" main journals, 3.38" stroke, 6.358" rod length and came in 350-361-383-400 sizes. The RB, or "raised B" had a deck height of 10.725", 2.750" main journals, 3.75 stroke, 6.768" rod length and came in 383 (very rare), 413, 426 and 440 sizes.

The Hemi was an RB variant but there are enough variances to make it its own family, in my book at least.

Heads, valves, springs and rocker arms, exhaust manifolds, oil pumps, pickup tubes and pans, camshafts and lifters, timing sets, water pumps and housings, all will interchange. The engines themselves will interchange but the RB is physically wider and taller.

R.
