Has anyone purchased or seen the repro E-body dash pads from Classic Industries? If so, how do the look and fit? They don't have a photo on their website, at least not one that shows much detail, but here's what they say:

"1971-74 MOPAR E-BODY DASH PAD 3 SPEAKER WITHOUT AC BLACK
Now you can have a dash that looks like new without the high cost of refurbishing your original. Replace that cracked, saggy dash pad with this new factory-style replacement. This dash pad will enhance the look of your interior and get you more points at the next Mopar show. Manufactured in strong ABS plastic, features a non-original metal frame to reinforce weak spots of the original dash and a correct-grain vinyl covering for an authentic appearance. Also features correctly positioned mounting studs for a proper fit, comes complete and ready to install. These dashes are available for models with or without air conditioning, 1 or 3 speaker holes and can be had in all factory colors. Please specify color when ordering."

The price is not too bad, $500. Just hesitant to purchase one sight unseen. They don't use an original frame, which makes me worry about the fit. But at least I don't have to ship back my core. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Supposedly the ABS or plastic frames warp. But I have no first hand experience with these.

Classic Industries emailed me some photos of their dash pad. I'll upload them here. I think it looks pretty good, though I've never replaced a Mopar dash pad and have no experience with them. What do you think?

Had one in a car I had and replaced it with a steel framed one. Looked at another car with a fiberglass framed pad and it was obvious. Spend the extra money and get a steel framed pad They tend to "arch" real bad above the cluster and fit poorly in other spots. Just think how hot a black pad gets in the sun all day.

The ad he cited says "features a non-original metal frame"

Looks like Chinese writing on the side of the boxes. And looks like they are setting up a new office with that new Chinese chair box in the background. Funny how fast they jumped into the Mopar market.

Plus the add says "strong ABS" and them "non original metal frame". Which is it.

I am still laughing! It does look like Chinese unless I turn my head sideways. It says "71-4 E BODY," "NO/AC," "3SPK," "BLK." The handwriting does look a little bit like a tagger's.

I think what they mean is that metal brackets are molded into the ABS to reinforce some weak spots, wherever they are. I can't see them on the underside.

Post up again when you have it mounted on the dash with all the trim, as that is the only way to tell the quality of the pad. If everything lines up the way it should I will be amazed. I hope it does as I have been putting off buying a pad for my Cuda from Just Dashes due to their cost, but I don't want to purchase a pad that doesn't fit right either.

Yep, they all look great sitting on a box.

It's fit once installed that matters
