we sell and use a lot of both the K-1 and Compstar rods. the Compstars cost just a few dollars more. both will get the job done. the Compstar is IMO a better overall rod.

K1 gets my vote.
Get them from a supporting vendor like Performance Only since they done a lot of work with K1 to insure a quality product.

I have field tested eagle rods and can say they are tough.... Even over heated a few, cleaned them up honed them and put them back in use... Engine was making 700+ HP turning 7200 rpms I should note. They didnt even have the better bolts, just the 8740.. I put that engine through hell, in a street car for a good while, into several diff chassis in race only from 2004 to 2009 hundreds pass's in a single season.

In the budget rods your looking at, let me say you can save about 70-80 grams in the I-beam rod over the same spec H-beam... I have run the cheap RPM rods in a few engines, and they worked great... I found a guy on ebay selling rods for like $250 which are the same rods everyone else sells for hundreds more.... I would run these in a heart beat in a application like yours Randy... Just have them checked of coarse, never had a single problem yet, other than the small pin needs honed... Thats common procedure with these.... Shoot me a I will jump on the old computer and dig up that ebay link for ya...

Randy I had an opportunity to compare 5 different rods side by side before I chose the K-1 rods When I was checking them before assembly all eight were perfect except one pin bushing was slightly tight.Just a few seconds with some crocus cloth and perfect like the rest. Give Nick a call I think he has a few sets on the shelf but they may be for 990 pins what size are your pins? Gus
