Yes all California cars had turn down exhaust because of emissions.
Not even CLOSE to being true.

Noise Reduction Package, N95 I think. Same for CA Roadrunners.
In the "ballpark", but ONLY for 1970, N95 - CA emissions & N97 - noise reduction.
The '68 Parts Catalog indicates NO differences for CA vehicles & only shows one pair of Charger R/T 440 tailpipes.
The Charger R/T in BULLITT has tips & was purchased off a lot for the movie.
Nothing on your b'cast sheet is any different than another 440 auto a/c '68 Charger R/T.

I went on TTI's website and they do have turn-down tips in 16ga aluminized steel. http://www.ttiexhaust.com/Exhaust%20Tips/Tips.htm#tdtThey're slip on though. They look good but I don't want to have clamps visible. Can aluminized steel tips be tig welded to their 2-1/2" exhaust system for a cleaner look? I added my fender tag just in case it notes turn-down pipes.

The tag would not note anything regarding the tail pipes.

Madman, that's exactly how they looked! The turned-down end didn't face straight down like the TTI tips do, they flared slightly like yours.
I also noticed that your exhaust pipes are made with thicker aluminized steel, 14 gauge vs TTI's 16.
In a box, I have TTI's 1-7/8" ceramic coated 440 headers w/3" collectors, does your 2-1/2" "H" pipe system bolt directly to their headers? If not, do you guys plan to offer a version that would?
Wow, is all I can say. Thanks for chiming in.
We don't make a bolt up H-pipe to any header system expect Schumacher Tri-y's. Our customers have taken our h-pipes and modified them to fit headers but we don't make anything. Mostly what we do is make factory style exhaust up to the stock exhaust manifolds. We can modify and customize to a point but each set of headers is different and without making a 5 piece H-pipe with a lot of adjustability there isn't a good way to make a universal H-pipe. If you are in need of tail pipes or mufflers give me a call and I can help you out.
Thank you,

Hey Dan,
Are these the parts? I dismantled the car in 1999. I took tons of photographs but in 2001 my computer crashed and I lost them all. I'm going to need a lot of help getting this car back together.
As I took parts off the car they were sandblasted, epoxy primed, and then sprayed with black Centari.
The best that I can recall, the pipes weren't very large in diameter, maybe around 2-1/4". I disposed of the pipes back then.
I did look in the 1968 parts book and the photograph of the standard Charger (page 23-252) had turn-downs, and the next page, 23-254, showed the R/T with chrome tips.

I called Mike at TTI today to see if they could modify there straight 68-70 B-body tailpipes by bending a turn-down at the end. He said no.
Then I got on the phone with Tom at Accurate. Super-nice folks. It was recommended to get with TTI and buy the adapter for their headers transitioning to a stock 2-1/2" exhaust system. I can then go with Accurate's H-pipe exhaust from there.
Accurate won me over with the use of thicker aluminized steel and the molded-in turn down tailpipe option.
My only other decision is the diameter of the tailpipes. 2-1/4" or 2-1/2". My engine is a 440 quench motor, 3.9" offset-ground factory crank, 6.89" Manley I-beams, E-heads, Diamond flat-tops, Engle K60/62 cam, 727 auto, 3.55 rear, and I'm after low-end torque. Tom suggested 2-1/4".
The engine is in the crate, no bench-dyno numbers yet, with no converter selected, and I have no idea what carb to use. I do have a new Weiand 7500 intake. It'll be a street-driven car.
