I'm the CARETAKER of Weinstats '69 440 'cuda registry and have 104 of the 360 cars to date. 84 fastbacks/20 coupes. Always looking for new(REAL M-code) '69 440 'cudas to add to the registry so drop me a note if any are found or known. This isn't a publicly released registry. Thanks, Dave

Great find, nice color combo I haven't seen before. If you're thinking about period decals and all that, seems to me that period wheels would be part of the presentation. I like the Cragar S/S idea. My brother had a set of them with the unilug deal, and he never had a problem. Easier to find, too, you can hit up the GM guys.

Had a few minutes this afternoon so I ran the d/a buffer over the drivers side. It's not done, but it's amazing what 45 minutes with a little light compound will do for this old paint!
Here's a few pictures.

Get some Turtle Wax Black Box, its specially made for black cars, and it will fill in scratches and make it shine like glass. It holds up pretty good too. Messy though make sure you wear rubber gloves and it stains clothes. A lot of Walmarts and auto parts stores sell it.

Awesome story, awesome car, great score! I too scored a 440, console 4 speed, 3:54 dana GTX late last fall. Mine is one of my favorite Mopar colors, EE1 blue with a black gut. It looks to be a mostly original 52,000 mile car that had been in storage for a few decades. The only difference is that mine is a 67. I put it in storage for now and can`t wait to get it running again some day. They are still out there to be found and rescued.

I like your plan of just fixing what is necessary for now and leaving the total restoration for a later time. I have only been able to control myself to do that with one of my cars. Every other time I get caught in the snow ball effect and end up taking them completely apart and spending 2 to 5 years getting them back together.

looking forward to seeing if you can stick to your plan.

Unfortunately no. I got laid off about a month after buying the car which really put a damper on any plans for it.
Thankfully I did find another job that I start in a few weeks...was getting hairy for a little while and almost had to list it for sale.
I will likely be mothballing it for the summer and hopefully getting rolling on it this winter. In the meantime I will be watching the classifieds and collecting parts.

Thank you. A lot of people give me a funny look when I say no, I'm not going to paint it and/or restore it.

I won't have the $ to restore it right away so definitely going to have to stick to the plan.
Did decide on wheel/tire combo - 15x4.5 Cragars in front with Pro-Trac skinnies and 15x8 black steelies in back with some L60's.

Love the black and red. Mine would have a red interrior but decided to keep the orignal blue. Although it should have white seat covers and door panels. Came with factory 2 tone interrior but i drive the car alot all summer and figured the white seats would be hard to keep clean.
