Hey guys,

Just picked up a shed full of '71-74 B-Body, mainly Charger stuff. These tips were in there and I thought they looked a little odd, different than the one's I took off another car I'm parting. My question is, are these resonator equipped car tips? They look to be in pretty good shape.

Thanks!
Paul

They look like 71-72 RR Resonator tips with a piece of pipe stuck in them.

DEFINITELY resonator tips off a GTX or RR - 1971 or 2. All the Dodge tips I've seen had the black paint vs. orange. Here's their installation to the resonators (see photo). Let me know if you need resonators that look like OE.

These tips were NOS ones I had for many years. I glued these on with high-temp RTV silicone.

The Charger Tips are also longer but I thought all 71-72 were orange regardless of car line and 73-74 were black or maybe just 74 were black. I am not sure.

The tapered pipes are removable, so I'm assuming they were added, but these is a pipe that comes out from the tip, is this factory or did someone add it?

Someone added the pipes. The OE resonator-mount tips had NO pipe leading into them. The RR/GTX tips were shortys (the NOS ones of mine were the shorties), Chargers were longer by maybe 2-3" & had black painted inserts - like Moparlar said.

Also the Resonator ones have no pipe on them the regular ones have a pipe built into the tip. And after digging out my parts book it says my 72 should have Resonators on it. Great more parts to find

Wrong. Some were black - I've seen them.

I always thought they went to black in late 73 or 74

That was my understanding too...although I'm not that familiar with 73/74 cars

The 73 and 74 parts books only list 1 number for all engines 318(RM only) thru 440 for both body styles RW (Road Runner-Satellite/Charger). 3466123. I believe this includes 4 drs. and wagons. The ones I recall seeing were red-orange in color. Course never say never with Ma Mopar!
