Has anyone used the original or the newer Go Pro camera(s)underneath their car to view what the suspension is doing.
I would like to purchase a camera for doing just this and I am not sure what I need. Will the original go pro do what I need or should I buy the newer version? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Beep

can't say I have done it but I have seen it done and was going to try doing it with my car before it broke lol

Just make sure you secure it real well...never know what could happen.

As far as which version to get, not familiar if they have anything new(er) than what I have, which is the Hero HD motorsports version... I can't complain other than that the sound quality could be a little better, but for the price its hard to beat

I haven't used the Go Pro but I have used the Replay HD, their kit is only $189 from Saferacer.com

Yes, we use the camera as a tuning aid and have fun with it too. Here is a video showing my rear shocks topping out at the hit. This is with the GoPro Motorsports and Manfrotto camera clamp.

Here is a video of the front tire.

I just got one for Christmas and plan on using it at the track for suspension tuning. Mine is the Hero 2 HD version, but the original non HD might do the trick just fine. Tough little buggers too, My buddy crashed his 7 second mustang with his GoPro on a suction cup on the hood. He went and found it in the field, and it still works like a champ.

Thanks guys.
SB412Duster, do you have any video you can post?

Wheelsup73, awesome video. Looks like you have spent some time working on both ends of the car. Is it still a stock front suspension?

Thanks, Beep

Strokeraspen, Looks like we are after the same thing. A better suspension! Good luck with your new toy/tool.

I do have some, but they are on my racecar laptop and I will have to get it out of the trailer and up load them. It may take a day or so

The reason I asked was, I noticed the bump steer issues have been corrected in your other video. I am looking to address some of this stuff this winter. Any helpful tips? I was going to use the DC chassis manual.
Thanks, Beep

I really would like to see a good comparison between for instance GoPro, SportActioncam and this Replay camera mentioned above aswell.
Anyone know of a good site or topic checking out pro's and con's on these cams?

How about a ContourHD? here is a few videos of the ContourHD mounted on & in a few different cars.

Video 1 - mounted outside a Duster going 160+

Video 2 - mounted on assorted cars

Video 3 - Mounted on the back of a Micro Sprint
About 10:10 mins in the car behind him flips

Excellent Hot Rod Magazine article:

Video comparison to go with that article:

This is a Replay XD duct taped to my front valence going around Willow Springs hitting 125+ mph or so. You can see the suspension in action. And can see the poly sway bar bushing compressing in comparison to the LCA.

Suspension Cam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=je5oeamQ_uw

No external lights. Just borrowed it and got some verbal instructions (how to turn it on and off!)

Saw one yesterday being used to diagnose a pinion angle deal on a lowered truck. It measured out at 0 degrees with drive-shaft and pinion being parallel (bad). Then hooked up a Replay XD and you could see the pumpkin going nose up under hard acceleration.

Just bought the latest Hero 2HD.... and the salesman told me that in February GoPro will be coming out with a Blue Tooth wireless option.. or something like that, where you can watch the video in real time from a cell phone or laptop..

It may be true.. it may not be, but thats what the guy told me..

Wheelsup. What's that wet fluid on your inner right rear rim?

That is black duct tape holding the wheel weights down.
