How much do head gaskets compress? #1144904

Got a new set of the p4120094 head gaskets. They are supposed to be .024 to .028 installed,, but they are .041 in the box. Will they compress that much? They have a metal fire ring around the cyls.

Also,, why a .004 difference in what they compress to? Is mopar perf. just guessing?

They're labeled wrong... they will go about .002...
the .024-.028 is the variance in the specs so they
can be at either end of the spec and still be good

I know a engine builder that takes a piece of lead shot around .050 diameter, he punches a .060 or so hole in the head gasket where it can't leak and puts the lead shot there, installs the head and torques it down and then removes the head and measure the compressed shot to see how much it did compress The gasket is still usable so he does
