I have a 62 valiant 2 door hardtop, which has a 225 slant 6 push button auto . came across a rusty 63 valiant 2 door that has a 273 v8 push button trans ! was wondering how much difficulty it would be to swap the v8 and trans from the 63 to the 62 any info would be great thanks Mike

Wow... that '62 is a rare one! Most I see are 4 door cars!
Not sure on the engine swap, but I'd suspect that the '62 chassis is slightly larger than the 63 and later cars. There may be some creativity with the oil pan and exhaust, but if you have a Sawzall and a welder, you can do almost anything! Good luck. Could be interesting.

I didn't think the 273 became avail until 64 model year. On the swap only caveat I can see is slight dist to firewall interference and reportedly the horseshoe wiper motor bracket there (that hits) can be relocated behind the firewall to deal w that. If going w regular duals as opposed to the orig Y pipe you'd want to notch/box the trans crossmember on the pass side so the pipe is not forced to hang down real low. I'd rob the slightly thicker T bars also EDIT Before installing the eng I'd hand turn the crank till the magnet is lined up dead even w the nearest tooth & note the location of the can then remove the dist & install the eng WO it then see where you're at for clearance. If you do not change the t bars and checked the LCA to frame clearance (ride height) on both sides on a level surface/same amt of gas w the /6 you could probably crank the orig bars up a bit to restore the same height with the heavier 273 eng so you wouldn't have to pay for a realignment. Not sure if there will be a cable shifter or VB diff between those 2 years. Confirm the years & go from there.
