Does that mean the picture in the shop was taken before SS&DI got the car?

So Jake King performed a little of his magic on the RR before the test session with SS&DI. It makes since with the 111 mph trap speeds. That's awfully good even for mine shaft air. I think my car might have seen 109 a time or two, most of the time it was 106-108. My car had headers although I ran it with the exhaust. Mine was pretty stock except for the headers and a 11" converter and a tire.
Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

Yes...I found 4 old magazine articles including the SS&DI feature. All the photos show the vacuum advance and stock fuel lines except for the October Speed and Supercar where Al Kirschenbaum and company street raced it and ran it at the track with slicks, only getting a best of 13.36 @ 106.5. They loved the car. Said it was pretty unbeatable on the street only getting beat by an L88 Vette with slicks, a Willys coupe with slicks and another 427 Vette with slicks. (These are some hot street machines!) The article says it was the same car that Sox drove at Cecil County...and goes on to question just the driver making that much difference in the times and mph difference? It did have a power brake booster. One of the articles does confirm that the car was delivered to S&M for the "grand opening of their new racing headquarters in Burlington, NC". There is no magazine name on any of the pages but it goes on to say that "Buddy Martin checked the tuning specs on the teams new equipment...and it's unbelievably strong for a wedge." and that "This was proven later at Cecil County Drag-o-way where in 36 degree weather, at a weight of 3765 pounds, he cranked 12.98-111.66." Another article written by Tom Madigan (magazine unknown) is about a drag test at Orange County International Raceway. It has body color wheels and looks like the same car but the SS&DI car had black wheels? They got a best of 13.56@107.39 on the G70's. It also had a power brake booster. In my opinion and over 30 years of experience owning A12's, this is what you would expect for a well tuned completely bone stock A12! In the SS&DI article, a nice photo shows a solenoid and vacuum advance unit but has an incorrect throttle return spring, 70 carbs, valve covers, pcv and oil filler cap? It apparently was not the actual motor that was in the test car. The Speed and Supercar article has the correct spring, valve covers and oil cap but homemade file lines and no vacuum advance? Obviously, over time, there was various wrenching done on this car starting with the replacement of the intake and carbs, fuel lines and distributor before the SS&DI test
