I'm sure this has been beat into the ground, but its my first A body I am converting a 69 Swinger 8 3/4 to 4 1/2 bp axles, will be ordering dr. diff's axles, the question is will c body drum brakes work with this combo? I have a drum to drum 8 3/4 out of a 67 newport at my disposal and I thought that you could use them on b bodies Also considered grand cherokee disks, but it looks like the axles don't engage as far, and the bearing isn't inserted far enough into the tube, from what I have researched. Any suggestions?

The A body 8 3/4 axles have a different distance from the axle bearing to the axle flange than the B and C body 8 3/4 If you order the axles for a A body housing with the standard distance for the B, E and C body brakes with the 4.5 bolt pattern your golden I did the opposite on my A body housing going to 35 spline axles and spool, I had them made with the standard A body spacing for the standard A body brakes ( 1 3/4 x10 inch diameter)and 4.5 inch bolt pattern I then had the A body drums opened up for the larger center axle flange register If you switch the brakes off of the C body onto your A body 8 3/4 housing make sure and used the C body backing plates along with all the other C body brake components
