I recently had the reverse finger on my '65 Dart's Hurst Shifter.

At this point with school and such for the kids, my funds are very low. I've been out to the Hurst side, they'll rebuild it for $250. Thats out of the question for the time being.

Not having a spare shifter around for parts, I'm looking at what options I can do to get this car back on the road. It's my daily driver and grocery getter.

Has anyone ever had any luck welding a finger back together and had any good results?

If I could find a junk one for that price, I would do so.

I took a look at that one earlier today after I pulled the shifter out.

The reverse finger (longer one) on that goes the wrong direction.

Does it absolutely have to be a Hurst shifter? I mean, isn't there another shifter you can put on that tranny? Maybe buy a cheap, used one just to keep your car going for now, then fix your shifter later?

Does the reverse level have a number on it? If so post it and maybe someone on here can help you out.

re: another shifter: To change to another shifter I would have to have the A-833 linkage for that shifter, and possibly a different shifter mounting plate on the trans.

re: stamping #'s
The broken finger has the stamp 2336 on it.

The shifter itself says:
Hurst Competition/Plus
Patent Pending
10-4-K-1

The 2336 lever is very common to be cracke/broke. You can use a 6353 lever or 6370 lever with a bushing that is much stronger than the early 64-5 A/B lever. I can get you an arm that will work.

Dan,
I have a shifter that has 2366 stamped on the reverse lever and has a bolt on handle. Can you tell me what it fits?
Thanks
