I am in the process of assembling the automatic console shift linkage on a 1970 Challenger with a 727 trans. My issue is that I don't believe I have the correct bracket that attaches to the transmission on the steering column lockout cross shaft. This shaft attaches to the frame on one side and the trans on the other. Does anyone have a picture of this setup so I can see what this bracket looks like and where and how it attaches to the transmission? I have the service manual picture but it is not real clear. Thanks, Gerry.

Does this help? If not I just did mine minus the column rod because I have a temporary steering column but the brackets are original. I Might be able to take some pics tomorrow if you need them.

Those are 4 speed parts.. He's asked for 727 parts...

I thought they looked like 4 speed parts. Anybody have assembled picture on a 727 and where the inner bracket attaches to the transmission?

Sorry GKMOPAR.... I went to get a pic for you and found out I haven't installed the lock linkage.

I thought no problem I'll install it real quick and get a pic. Looking now I see that I don't have a place to mount the transmission bracket. I don't know if it's the same situation on your car. The linkage is from the car originally (I found it in a bag I marked YEARS ago)
The Tranny is from my 74 Cuda and is not original to that car. I'm wondering if 70 only had a mounting location for the bracket. The non original transmission that came in the Challenger is long gone so I can't even check it. Maybe someone will chime in.

Also .. I might be wrong but it seems like my headers will be right in the middle of the locking linkage.

That is the correct linkage. I am missing the bracket on the right that mounts to the transmission. There is also not a location on the trans in the car to mount it. I checked the trans # and found out it is a 1968 trans and does not have the mounting location. I have a core trans that does have the mounting location. Sounds like we are in the same situation. The pipe on my car goes just over the linkage. Thanks for the help!

Don't mean to hijack the thread but I'm missing this linkage from my car. Anyone know where to get one?

Thanks

Close but not quite.. The bracket to the right is different from a 904 to a 727 & the bracket pictured is 904.. But it could be cut down to fit a 727...
