Lightest Old B body I have personally seen and checked out was Tank CrossWhites 64 Plymouth a few years back. Im wanting to say it was in the 2600-2700 lbs range, but not sure. It ran 8.50's in the heat BTW and looked amazing.
Matt and Don Petco own that car now . it will have i think a 630 cu in. hemi when done.
I have the motor...I should of bought the car too. My 71 cuda isnt legal in most NSS assoc. Oh well, maybe a 68 cuda one day.

How is that car so light, aluminum nose, doors and corning??
Glass front end, glass doors. Plexi side glass. Moly cage. thin bumpers. Aluminum bumper brackets, goes on and on. every pound adds up. Aluminum block and heads.
Getting re-energized on the project. Have almost all the long lead time engine parts. Hope to have it done for the warmer months.
looks like you guys are gonna make me work a little harder on my stuff.

A lot of 8 second wanabee's (including me). I don't know all the quick guys. But I do know that Paul,Poppa J,& Jake have been working on it for a while. It's not as easy as it looks. Also not cheap. I have to believe many of these cars have 75k + invested. That's a lot of coin for a $1500 to win index class. How many cars have won an event at 9.25 or quicker in N/SS? That's my goal. Doin on the cheap as well. We will see. Doug
Thats going to be one nice looking car when its done.. I like the paint choice...
PoppaJ whats your car weigh with you in it? And whats the weight limit for NMCA Rules 3200lbs?
Rob, Weight is not a tech item...They will not allow excessive gutting like dashes, inner fenders or changes that change the look a bunch. Our car weighs 3680 with Casey in it. Plus we usally have 100# in the weight box on top of that. We still have full bench seat interior, all steel except hood and bumpers poppaj
Why did you add another 100lbs? Damn that car runs good for that weight...
PoppaJ I have a nice set of seats for your car...
Those are nice seats Weight was to slow down to run 9.75 car is very consistant at that dial-in. We are stepping it up for next year will probily run A/FX (9.25) WE still run a true 10.5x29.5 slick as well, rear wheel houses are still stock.
Poppa looks like me and you will be racing in the same class if all goes well... A/FX...

Rob, I think there will be a lot of 9.25 rides next year... Doug's shooting for 9.25 in his new 64', Dirk is building a B-body hemi car, there are a couple more being built in the Indy area. I would not be surprized to see a dozen cars at that index. I would bet there will be a few more 8 second cars as well.
Check out the wheel base on Tank's old 64' it is 4" shorter than stock. poppaj

Sounds great dont get me wrong you know we are all shooting for 8's but if I can get this little 426 to go 9.20-9.40s ill be happy.. My future plan is to build a big CI hemi...
I didnt realize the wheel base being smaller.. You can notice that or you knew that?

Thanks... No I don't have a 68 Cuda yet, that's my dream car build and I would have to sell my 71 to build it.

Is a shortened or AWB allowed in NSS,or are AWB a different class?
It's legal in the F/X classes (9.75 or quicker) There's quite a few that are short. Check some "legal" NHRA S/S cars and you'll see what I mean. As for the stock appearing seats check these out. 19 lbs apiece w/floor mounts, it helps when your son is a seat engineer. Doug

What size motor is in the 71 Cuda? Do you run a TF trans or glide?

motor is a 604", I run a Bruno/Jeffco with a converter from Lenny at Ultimate. The 572" that I ran in the car the first few years is going in my brothers 69 Cuda when we get to it.
