Wasn't he putting a top sportsman engine in that blue '65? Too many cars for me to follow. What black '65?
Did used to get an enjoyment out of his posts here though! Very entertaining! Never a dull moment. wheres he at now, on the bullet? That can't be pretty over there...
And Rob, car looks good! Car looks bad a$$ just sitting there!
Thanks John I made a ton of changes to the car since that picture was taken... I cant wait to get it done...

Hey Rob, Your 65' still has torsion bar front suspension correct? Also I was informed by another racer that the NMCA rules commitee was listening to opinions on some new rule ideas, one was letting 8.50-9.00 run up to a 14x32 tire. They are trying to get more NHRA/IHRA Super stock cars in the mix like thunderbolts, 64'-67' B Bodies and the AH cudas and darts. Think about it there are a lot of cars that this would make legal. poppaj

A lot of 8 second wanabee's (including me). I don't know all the quick guys. But I do know that Paul,Poppa J,& Jake have been working on it for a while. It's not as easy as it looks. Also not cheap. I have to believe many of these cars have 75k + invested. That's a lot of coin for a $1500 to win index class. How many cars have won an event at 9.25 or quicker in N/SS? That's my goal. Doin on the cheap as well. We will see. Doug

Hey PoppaJ Im good there I had my chassis guy put back all stock front end so I can run in these kind of events... 14x32 is great because I have to run a 16 wide rim on my car...

Hi Doug, Your Car is looking great As far as winners running 9.25 or quicker, I know Paul won a NMCA race dialed at 9.00. Curt Neighbor and Barry Camp at 9.25. Jake won the Friday race at Norwalk dialed at 9.00. 422 motorsports circuit has had some 8 second winners but their rules and dail-in system is quite a bit more liberal. Most of the quick cars in that circuit are not NMCA legal. I think there were a bunch more 9 second cars last year. I know there will be a bunch more for the 2012 season. I think about everybody is looking to move up to a faster class, 10.0 class last year was generally the biggest class where a couple of years ago most of the time 11.0 was the biggest. Should be a fun year for all next year poppaj

So whats the deal with the Ford I posted about? Reason I posted that was 422 motorsports is claiming the fastest NSS in the country... 8.20's is getting it done for sure. Would love to know engine size, setup/weight etc.. And what would it take Power wise for a Mopar to out run these guys? Or is it even possible? http://www.422motorsports.com/

Someone said that Ford was real light though...
At 3200lbs it would take about 1200 hp to run 8.20s... That considering all the stars are in line..

Rob, Weight is not a tech item...They will not allow excessive gutting like dashes, inner fenders or changes that change the look a bunch. Our car weighs 3680 with Casey in it. Plus we usally have 100# in the weight box on top of that. We still have full bench seat interior, all steel except hood and bumpers poppaj
Why did you add another 100lbs? Damn that car runs good for that weight...
PoppaJ I have a nice set of seats for your car...

Lightest Old B body I have personally seen and checked out was Tank CrossWhites 64 Plymouth a few years back. Im wanting to say it was in the 2600-2700 lbs range, but not sure. It ran 8.50's in the heat BTW and looked amazing.

It no longer runs the cammer. It runs a 2x4 wedge FE and has for the last few years. In my opinion NSS should be limited to a 10.5 tire. If the car was originally a leaf spring car then it should stay that way also. All should be required to run multiple carbs, big blocks and NO pony cars(except '68 Hemi A-bodies)! Quote:

The falcon had a injected SOHC cammer motor in it the last time I saw it run. It was very quick 8.40's probily went 20's at a sea level track like Atco I would say. It had alumium interior and 14x32 tires. I would bet by looking at it weight was probily 2600-2700# with driver.
